My Experience:
I am a self-taught photographer and have been taking photos for many, many years. Before I met my husband, I was a divorced, single mom working full-time and in my spare time I did numerous photography jobs to support my son Duncan, (sometimes with him in tow, he was a great helper), I took sports photos, individual and team photos for a company called Eastern Exposures. I then started to venture out on my own. This all was back in the 35mm days. I have photographed wedding anniversaries, senior pictures, and birthdays. My business really started to take off, and then I met my husband, got married, had two more children, and with that put my business aside, but not my passion. Throughout the years I continued to take photos of my family and friends and now have decided to pick up where I left off years ago and want to create photos for others that like my personal, unique, touch of style.
My specialty is story telling. Most of my photos, I have noticed over the years, come in sequences. When I look at all the photos of my children, who have been my main subject for years, I've remembered each day specifically and my photos will never let me forget that special day. I am not into design or changing up images.
I personally do not like portrait pictures, I love photos with personality that jumps off the paper. I do not use fake backgrounds or fake props.
In most of my pictures, you will notice that the subjects are very rarely looking right at the camera, hence making a more dramatic, story telling picture. I love taking pictures of kids at a playground, at the beach, baking, or in the yard (where kids were before cell phones and video games). I am not into posing the children, I just follow them around and capture them at a moment, unknowingly to them, a moment that will last forever. A photo that perhaps, someday, they will show to their grandchildren.
I am in this business because I love the innocence of photography, and the essence and the abundance of the subjects. It is my passion and it is something I really enjoy doing.
Because of portrait studio's and photographer's high cost of a store front overhead, like renting space at the mall, it is hard for them to charge you a low price. I don't have such overhead, it is just me and my little Canon that I have had for years with some great lenses my husband has purchased for me. No lights or glamour, but it allows me to charge you such a great low price while providing you with priceless photos. I do this for the love of photography and something to do - living my passion, something my husband has always encouraged me to do.
Together we can create great memories that you will never forget and will cherish forever. I have many, many, many of my own family and would like to share my technique with yours. If you are interested in creating some memories that matter, please fill in the "Contact" page so that we can discuss lots of ideas and venues that I know will make you some great memories at a fair price.
